A Miracle Dog

Puppies, they usually bring out the best in people. There are many words to use when describing puppies. Here are just a few: cute, cuddly, soft, playful, funny, energetic, loving, curious, and gentle. So why would anyone want to do anything to hurt a puppy? Why would anyone stand by and let a puppy suffer in pain with severe injuries and not get them the help they needed? I want to tell you about one such puppy. His name is Milagros. Milagros means miracle in Spanish and that is just what this puppy is, a miracle. This little guy came to the attention of Almost Home Foundation and we just couldn’t turn our backs on him. He was such a happy puppy, even while in horrible pain from severe injuries. Everyone who met him was greeted with a wagging tail, a few kisses, and all the love he could possibly show them. The love this puppy has for people still shined through all his pain. Milagros had a broken hip, two broken paws, and a broken leg. How could he still love humans so much? We don’t know except to say that a loving spirit is what Milagros truly has. His continual love towards humans is a mystery because it is probably humans who gave him his injuries.

Milagros is a pit bull puppy. The Pit Bull breed is most often abused. Cruel people try to make these dogs fighting dogs and many never make it. These dogs are lovers, not fighters; they don’t have the heart for it. All they want is to love a family and be loved back.

Ignorance is not bliss for this puppy and for too many like him. It is ignorance that makes people fear the breed, but we in rescue PITY the PITTIES. We at Almost Home Foundation know that Milagros will need lots of medical care, love and time to physically rehabilitate. We also know that this will be costly but we just could not turn our backs on this poor little puppy. He deserves a second chance – or maybe his actual first chance for a loving family.
