Adoption Process Canine

Requirements:
(1) Be at least 21 years of age
(2) Have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household
(3) Have approval from owner of residence  (written in lease)
(4) Have  valid ID with current address
(5) Be approved as a suitable adoptive home by Almost Home Foundation
(6) Must have a one week trial to ensure the fit is satisfactory.

 Process:
(1) Meet with the animal and talk with Adoption Counselors
(2) Fill out an application
(3) Understand that several applicants may be interested in the animal and it can only go into one home.  Almost Home Foundation makes the decision with the best interest of the animal in mind.  A decision to place the animal in someone else's home in no way implies that your home would not be a wonderful home for one of our animals.  We are merely  trying to make the best decision for the particular animal.
(4) Talk with the Adoption Coordinator.  Please realize that the final decision to place the animal is based on the Adoption Coordinator and at times, Board members.
(5) A Home Check will be done for applicants prior to any placements being made
(6) On some occasions, we will require dogs to take basic obedience training.
(7) If you are chosen for the animal, you must take the animal for a one-week trial period.  This will allow you to see the animal in your environment and provide a sense of comfort that the animal is a good fit in your home.
(8) After the one-week trial, you will either adopt the animal or return the animal to Almost Home.
(9) We expect our placements to be lifetime commitments.  We cannot condone a "disposable" pet theory.  If you must give up your animal, you must return the animal to Almost Home Foundation.

 Adoption Fees :
Almost Home Foundation believes that older animals make wonderful pets -- especially for senior citizens.  Pets improve the quality of life and subsequently the elderly live longer with a pet.  We believe that a senior pet for a senior citizen is a winning combination! To promote this, we offer older animals to seniors at a lower adoption fee.  It is our goal to help cover the costs for these older animals through donations, memberships, sponsorships and fundraising.
