Bow wow my name is Lilyanna

Hi, my name is Lilyanna. I am a beagle/basset mix and about 3 1/2 years old. I came from Georgia with my pup, Lancer, but he got adopted already. I am still scared even though I have been with my foster mom and her pups since 1/17/09. Lancer was with me until March 21st. I am doing fine without him as I have my foster mom and her two pups too. My foster mom's pups are really small, just 9 lbs, and I would like to be with a bigger dog to play. I even like the really big dogs. The only thing I don't like is when a big puppy gets in my face and is full of puppy energy pawing at me. That bothers me and I usually let the pup know to back off. My foster mom is really nice, and pets me a lot, but I don't think I was around humans much before coming to her home. I still act a little scared with my foster mom, but nothing like when I first came. I will need someone very patient with me to give me time to get to know them.

Loud noises startle me, but I am working on getting used to them. I don't really bark, hardly ever. I had some accidents in the house when my pup left, but I haven't had any accidents for a long time now. I think I had kind of missed my pup. I am really good with all kinds of people and dogs. I am very gentle. Although I am scared, I don't act aggressively at all. I just want to find a forever home with a family that loves me and will be patient with me so I can learn to get comfortable and love them back.

People think I am adorable and then they hear about my condition and get scared and leave. You see, I was heartworm positive but have finished my treatments and have been tested negative now. The good news is that when they took xrays of my heart, it looked really good and I responded really well to my treatments. My last treatment was on Good Friday. I was just spayed and did well with that surgery. The sad thing is that all of this could have been avoided if my previous owners had put me on the heartworm preventive but they didn't care about me enough to do that.

Can you be the new forever family I have been looking for for so long? Do you have room in your heart for me? Will you be the one that will be patient with me for as long as it takes for me to get comfortable with you? Will you be the one that will be really really careful with me and do everything you can to make sure I don't run away from you? You see, I will probably try to run away and find my foster mom. After all, she is the only human that I really really know and she is kind and gentle with me. I will need time to learn that you will be kind and gentle with me. Until then, I might try and run. Can you be the one who can be patient enough with my fears to make sure I am safe until I learn that you are safe?

If you would like to see me, call or email my foster mom, and she will make arrangements with you. 630-855-3441; 630-715-4139; or asego_sw@yahoo.com Or you could just come to the Bloomingdale show on Saturdays at 11.

Lilyanna loves to go for walks. She seems to really want to be with medium to large dogs. Every time we walk by a neighbors home with their dogs out, she sits looking at them and cries. Her foster sisters are only little 9 lb dogs and I don’t think they are her kind of canine companion. She is beginning to get more comfortable with familiar people. That is so good to see.
