Sometimes AHF dogs get adopted but come back for a variety
of reasons... most often due to no fault of theirs... they
are called too playful or not playful enough, too young or
too old, too big or too small... nothing people didn't know
prior to adoption but thought they could deal with. There
are allergies, new babies, job changes, moves into a new apartment
where dogs are not allowed, job loss and home foreclosures.
The list could go on and on. . .
What matters is that Almost Home takes these dogs back, no
matter what and helps them find yet another home, this time
hopefully their final home.
This dog is one of the unlucky ones that thought it had found
a forever home but now got returned. It had already lost the
first home to end up in rescue and is now homeless again...please
take a good look and consider adopting her.
Lona is a very active and lively 3-year-old girl. She is a
little shy, but warms up quickly. She is very energetic and
puppy-like. Lona has discovered her love of chew toys and
really enjoys a game of fetch.
We are working on housebreaking and she is learning very quickly.
Lona had never been groomed and had to be shaved when she
came to us. Her fur is very shiny and sooo.. soft! Lona will
be absolutely beautiful when her fur has grown back. She is
learning all about daily brushing and having her eyes and
ears cleaned.
Lona does not like to be left alone and we are working on
crate training for short periods throughout the day. Lona
is also beginning to learn her basic obedience sit,
stay, come, down and give.
Lonas ideal forever home would be a family that has
someone home all day and is willing to continue working with
her on obedience. She also requires substantial exercise everyday.
Lona loves to run outside and play so a fenced yard would
be ideal. Lona walks well on a leash and takes several long
walks daily.
If you are looking for an adorable 11-pound bundle of energy,
please stop by and meet Lona. She will make a great addition
to your family!
