JUNE IS ADOPT A CAT MONTH
C A T S =
CURIOUS, ATTENTIVE, THERAPEUTIC, SMART

Curious
Cats have a natural curiosity for the world around them. They can get into the smallest spaces and get up onto the highest places. They can get into scary situations all from their adventurous nature. Have you ever seen a cat high up in a tree and unable to get themselves down? Yep, that is one reason why Almost Home Foundation’s cats are all indoor cats – too many dangers in our human world in the outdoor world for them.
Attentive
Unlike some people think, cats can be very attentive to their family. They seem to pick up on the needs of their human family. Cats know when their human family members are around and they do tend to observe them. Some cats have been known to sit in your lap and purr up a storm. Cats crave human touch and attention too. Most cats love to be held and cuddled.
Therapeutic
Cats can pick up on the emotional energy of their human family. They have been known to have a very therapeutic effect on them, especially during times of stress, sickness and sorrow. Cats have an almost healing nature to them in that they help people get into a calm and relaxed state in which their bodies and minds can benefit.
Smart
Whoever said that cats can’t learn or be trained or are not smart, has never really worked with a cat. Cats are extremely intelligent and are trainable too. They can be quick to learn tricks and can be very entertaining. Cats have also been known to do heroic things like Bart, the orange tabby, who saved his teenage companion’s life by alerting his mother when the boy was having a life threatening seizure. So, the kitty lazing on the couch may have a hidden side that comes out in a crisis – whether it is saving a life or cheering up an owner’s gloomy day.
CATS MAKE PURR-FECT COMPANIONS
Despite its independence, our fascination with the cat is sure to continue. There is just something about that purr and the way a kitten curls up in your lap that makes these animals irresistible to all.
Here are just some good reasons why cats do make the purr-fect companions. Cats are…...
- Great for those who live in apartments as they don’t need a large yard or a lot of room.
- Great companion for someone who works long hours as they can be self sufficient in the area of potty behavior and can be quite entertaining on their own. However, they do depend on their human companions for food, water, love, affection, human touch, interaction, etc…
- Great companions for the elderly as they don’t require daily walks outside, etc.
- Cats can also have a very therapeutic effect on humans while providing companionship without requiring a lot of daily work. Cats have also been trained as certified therapy cats.
- Cats are a great option when you are living in a space that does not allow dogs but you desire a companion.
- Most apartments, condos, and town homes allow cats
- Every cat has a unique personality! Some are gentle and loving lap cats, some are energetic and playful, and some are both! There is a cat for just about every lifestyle and type of household.
Here is a digital story that describes some of our wonderful cats that need a home. Are you the right home for one of them?
Almost Home Foundation is a great rescue in which to adopt a cat or kittens. The cats are fostered in temporary homes, so they are typically very well-socialized. The temporary family can provide a lot of information on the cats like personality characteristics, food preferences, etc… All of this information helps to ensure a good match between feline and human. All of the specific cat adoption requirements and fees are listed on our CAT ADOPTION page. AHF also provides specific medical care to all cats which can be viewed on the CAT MEDICAL PROVIDED page. We would encourage you to browse through all the web pages on our site that has cat information on them to learn more about these great companions. Please click on “Animals” on the top bar and you will see all the cat pages listed. Enjoy browsing all of our cats under CATS AVAILABLE.
