Pumpkin
Pumpkin is the definition of a gentleman: well-behaved, quiet, sweet, good-natured, calm, and kind.
One night, four kittens and their mother were discovered in an abandoned house that had recently burned down. All of the cats were very shy—clearly, they hadn’t been around people very much before. Nobody claimed the cats as theirs. They had nowhere to go, and nobody to love them.
Normally, shy stray cats do not find rescue…but this family got very lucky. AHF co-founder Claire Sleigh heard about them and wanted to help. Soon, the cats were placed in foster care…and their journey toward forever homes began!
This story is about one of those lucky cats. He is a very special, very sweet, and very handsome orange tabby boy named Pumpkin.
Just look at Pumpkin’s face…can’t you see the gentle soul shining through? When his big golden eyes connect with yours, your heart instantly melts for him. Pumpkin is the definition of a gentleman: well-behaved, quiet, sweet, good-natured, calm, and kind. He just happens to be very shy, too.
When he first arrived in his foster home, Pumpkin was so afraid. He spent most of his time hiding and running. As the months went by, he slowly blossomed. His confidence and ability to trust humans grew. And slowly but surely—almost like magic—this amazing personality began shining though.
Pumpkin truly couldn’t be a more pleasant boy. He loves other cats and is very peaceful—he wouldn’t even hurt a mouse. He’s intuitive and inquisitive, intelligent and curious. He rolls over for belly rubs when he’s feeling happy, and he purrs when petted! More and more often, he even comes right up to people for attention. Pumpkin has such a heartwarming personality. He has proven that every cat in need deserves a chance, no matter how fearful they appear to be at first.
Pumpkin has held onto his bashful side—it comes out whenever things get loud and hectic, or when new people are around or new situations arise. He still gets a little jumpy at times, too. Because of this, Pumpkin would do best in a calm, quiet home with a patient, gentle owner. He needs someone who is willing to wait for the magic to happen. People like this are hard to come by, but Pumpkin knows his special person is out there somewhere!
It’s been over two years since the night he was rescued. Ever the humble one, Pumpkin has taken a backseat to the friendlier, more outgoing cats up for adoption. He has watched countless foster siblings come and go, while patiently waiting for his turn.
Pumpkin has spent a very long time waiting for his special person to come along for him. Could you be the one? If you think you might be his perfect match and vice versa, please give him a chance. Without a doubt, Pumpkin will touch your heart!
